early symptoms hiv

Too early to be HIV symptoms?
I may just be paranoid but about a week after sex I came down with a sore throat and cough. I also developed a rash for a couple days. The thing is everyone I live with has a cold and I easily could have gotten it from them. There is also a possibility I had an allergic reaction to a new comforter that caused the rash. I think the rash could also be connected to the morning after pill taken about a week ago and stress. The rash wasn’t really itchy and in some areas it just looked like I broke out like in small zits.
Is it possible that these are early symptoms of HIV or my mind playing tricks on me?
They are definitely not HIV symptoms. Symptoms of HIV would not show up until much later. You may have caught a cold, and/or had an allergic reaction to something. Stress could also be causing some of your symptoms. See a doctor. You may want to consider getting an HIV test 3 and 6 months after your unprotected sexual contact, just for peace of mind.
About Early Symptoms of HIV
The early symptoms of HIV resemble many common viral illnesses and may not cause you to suspect that you are infected with a life-threatening disease. Although you may not get a positive laboratory test result for HIV until up to six months after you were infected, you may experience some early symptoms and are at risk of infecting others.
Symptoms in Children: –
Children experience different symptoms of HIV than adults. According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), these include stunted mental and physical growth along with neurological and motor problems. According to the NIAID, about 20 percent of children born with HIV become ill during the first year of life while the rest remain healthy until they reach school age or beyond.
Length of Time: –
There have been HIV patients who discovered they were positive nearly a decade after they were initially infected. Over that period of time, it is common for these patients to have had diarrhea, weight loss, fevers, coughing bouts, swollen lymph nodes and shortness of breath at various times. While all are signs of HIV, they are also symptoms for other, less serious illnesses that they are often mistaken for.
Notice signs of third stage HIV: –
Third stage HIV or Symptomatic HIV occurs just before full blown AIDS. You will experience ongoing flu symptoms like the ones mentioned in step two. You will likely also experience significant weight loss, loss of appetite, skin infections, and difficulty breathing. AIDS itself increases these symptoms and often leads to infections a normal immune system would repel or specific types of cancers.
Watch for flu like symptoms: -
In the first month of HIV infection flu like symptoms such as fevers, aches, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, skin rashes, or other flu like symptoms may occur. Clearly these can be related to a common cold or flu. However, if you believe you may have a chance of being exposed get tested immediately.
Symptoms of HIV: -
The most common symptoms of acute HIV infection are fever, fatigue and skin rash; other symptoms may include headache, sore throat and swollen glands. Some people do not experience symptoms during first-stage HIV disease.
• Recurring fever or profuse night sweats
• Profound and unexplained fatigue
• Easy bruising
• Bouts of extreme exhaustion
• Swollen lymph glands in the armpits, groin, or neck
• Red, brown, pink, or purplish blotches on or under the skin or inside the mouth,
• Memory loss, depression, and other neurological disorders
• Diarrhea lasting more than a week
• Rapid weight loss
• Dry cough
• White spots or unusual blemishes on the tongue, in the mouth, or in the throat
• Pneumonia
Cause of HIV: -
Symptoms experienced during acute HIV infection are caused by the immune system responding to the infection. This is why it is also known as seroconversion illness; seroconversion is a process of developing antibodies (specifically, an amount that can be detected by tests).
